Sonoma County VITA Free Tax Clinic

Sonoma County VITA Free Tax Clinic

Spring time means tax time.

And tax time means a lot of organization, numbers, receipts, deductions, additional income, direct deposit dangers, and much more. Tax time can be extremely overwhelming. A few mistakes here and there could mean big trouble for your finances.

Lucky for you, Empire College accounting students and faculty will be assisting United Way of the Wine Country in delivering free income tax services to low-to-moderate income residents through the Earn it! Keep It! Save It! (EKS)/Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. Each participating student is IRS certified in advanced tax preparation to help you with your taxes, and to get experience vital to their future.

If you make $54,000 or less in a year, you can take advantage of the completely free tax services offered by Empire College. Last year, Empire College students prepared more than 1,100 tax returns, returning almost $1.5 million in refunds to local communities.

From January 28th through April 18th, the Empire site will be offering tax preparation services on Monday through Thursday afternoons from 2:30 to 5:00 p.m., as well as Friday and Saturday mornings from 9 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.

Do yourself a favor and have your taxes done by up-and-coming, certified accounting students – all for free! To reserve an appointment time, call 2-1-1; for more information, visit www.unitedwaywinecountry.org.
