'Tis Better to Give

Students Raise Funds for Breast Cancer Awareness

Graduation - A Celebration of Success

Congratulations to the students who will be graduating in Empire College School of Business's semiannaul commencement exercises on Monday evening, July 28.

There are approximately 90 students in this graduating class, each with their own unique backgrounds and experiences and each with a similar story of making the decision to further their education to enter a career field of their choice, improve their lives and, in some cases, set a positive example for their children.

Education Pays Off

This is a wonderful human interest story about an emergency that occurred this morning at the corner of Russell and Range as students and faculty were on their way to 9 a.m. classes. Three Empire students came to the rescue!

The background of the "emergency" is that an elderly man was rushing to get across the street and fell in the crosswalk, resulting in a head injury.

Empire's Blessing

Empire College is blessed to have Henry Trione as its founder. "By any measure one of the Redwood Empire's leading men of all time," as Press Democrat writer Chris Smith described him in today's front-page story, Henry has lead an interesting and rich life.

The final group of Empire Class of 2014 Juris Doctor graduates has worked in each of the five pro bono clinics offered at Empire, contributing to a class total of 87% participation in the clinics. This dedication to community service is indeed impressive and contributed to Empire College's national recognition on the President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll the past two years.

Today's trio of grads is blending backgrounds in linguistics and technology, global studies and Worker's Compensation benefits, and special education/deafness with their legal education.
