Interacting with parties and attorneys in pending civil actions provides students an opportunity to apply legal principles in theories of alternative dispute resolution and to exercise their lawyering skills. Each student will make court appearances to announce the result of the mediation to the judge. With many successful settlements to their credit, these students have reduced the court's busy docket which has been met with great appreciation from the judiciary.
Courtroom mediation courses in California are a great way for law students to get real experience while helping reduce the court’s workload.
