Sheri Graeber

Professional Experience: Ms. Graeber has been employed in the Tourism and Hospitality Industry for the past 34 years as a travel agent, front desk agent, reservations manager for a tour company and college instructor. She has worked as a consultant with a global reservations system and an event planning company.

Certifications: Certified Travel Agent, 1991; Certified Tourism Ambassador

History at Empire College: Ms. Graeber began working at Empire College in November 1987. She teaches Guest Services, Concierge, Leadership and Management, Convention Services, Sales and Marketing, Fundamentals of Destination Management, Introduction to the California Wine Industry, Introduction to the Spa Industry, Presentation Skills, Travel and Event Planning courses.

Cynthia Hanna

Education: B.A. in English and a California teaching credential from Sonoma State University. In 2011, she received her online teaching credential and is currently working on her MS in Online Teaching and Learning at Cal State East Bay.

Professional Experience: In addition to working in education and teaching students of all ages, Ms. Hanna has a business background.

Memberships: Current member of the IAAP, International Association of Administrative Professionals

History at Empire College: Ms. Hanna started working as a teacher at Empire College in 1990. She has taught a wide variety of courses including Office Procedures, Office Management, English, and computer software.

Rose Batzdorff
B.A., M.A.

Education: B.A. in Math and Psychology from the University of Colorado in Boulder, Colorado; M.A. in Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colorado.

Professional Experience: Ms. Batzdorff worked as a Rehabilitation Counselor for the state of California. She started, owned and operated her own business for 25 years that made and fit prosthetic and orthotic devices. Ms. Batzdorff taught at Lewis Adult Education Center.

Certificates: State of California Credential as an Adult Education Teacher

History at Empire College: Since 2009, Ms. Batzdorff has been teaching at Empire College. Classes include all levels of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) and keyboarding.

Sharilynn Koch

Education: Ms. Koch graduated from Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary with a Master of Arts in Christian Education. Previous to that she did graduate studies in Education with an emphasis in Curriculum Development and Elementary Teacher's Credentialing. She completed her Bachelor's degree in Sociology with a minor in Music in 1973 at Azusa Pacific University.

Certificates: Lifetime teaching credential from the state of California. She is also a certified Red Cross Trainer for CPR/AED and First Aid.

Professional Experience: Ms. Koch has multiple years of teaching experience at the elementary, middle school and college levels. In addition to that, she has directed several nonprofit programs emphasizing education and training for those organizations. She also successfully co-owned and managed a Sonoma County business for more than 20 years, overseeing human resources, accounting, marketing and production. During her undergraduate years, she worked as a Medical Assistant in several skilled nursing facilities and physicians' offices doing front- and back-office work. She also spent time working in Kenya at various medical clinics.

History at Empire College: Ms. Koch's work at Empire began in August 2001. During her time at Empire, she has taught classes that supported the Office Administration, Accounting, and Medical departments. She has also been responsible for implementing, overseeing and staffing the Empire College Tutoring Center.

Karen Longhetto

Education: Ms. Longhetto received her Bachelor of Arts degree from San Diego State University and completed post-baccalaureate coursework in exercise physiology and adult fitness.

Professional Experience: Ms. Longhetto has been employed in the medical field for the past 25 years as a medical assistant, office manager and college instructor. She has worked in a variety of medical offices and clinics including urgent care, family practice, dermatology and student health services.

Certifications: Certified Medical Assistant, 1984; California Community Colleges Instructor Credential, 1989

History at Empire College: Ms. Longhetto began working at Empire College in September 2003. She teaches Anatomy and Physiology, Medical Terminology, Medical Office Procedures and General Education courses.

Carl Oeschger

Education: Bachelor of Arts in Economics from San Diego State University; Diploma in the Computer Support Specialist program from Empire College

Certificates and Memberships: CompTIA A+ Certification; memberships in the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) and the American Association of Accountants (AAA)

Professional Experience: Mr. Oeschger is a decorated combat veteran of the United States Army, serving in the United States, Germany, Saudi Arabia, and Iraq. He has previous experience in Production Control and Materials Management in the fields of Biomedical and Electronics.

History at Empire College: Mr. Oeschger has been an instructor at Empire College for over 13 years, teaching a variety of disciplines. While his area of expertise is in Accounting and Bookkeeping, Carl also teaches classes on Personal Development, Mathematics, Human Relations, Management, Computer Hardware and Networking, and various software products such as Microsoft Office and QuickBooks. Carl also teaches Career Transitions, which President Roy O. Hurd has described as “one of the most important classes the College teaches.” Carl has also served as the Assistant Director of Education.

Education: Associate of Arts in Business from Santa Rosa Junior College, a Bachelor of Arts in Business from The University of San Francisco, and currently completing a Masters of Science in Education Online Teaching and Learning from Cal State East Bay, Spring 2013.

Certificates and Memberships: Online Teaching and Learning Certificate from Cal State East Bay and Cerro Coso Community College. Member of International Administrative Assistant Professional (IAAP) and California Business Educators (CBE).

Professional Experience: After working as an Administrative Assistant for many years at Santa Rosa Junior College, Cynthia began teaching in 1995 in the Office Technology department at Santa Rosa Junior College. She also taught computer applications and business courses at Lewis Adult Education.

History at Empire College: Cynthia began teaching at Empire College in 2005 in the Office Administration Department, teaching general education, office administration, and computer courses both day and evening.
