What programs do you offer?
We offer programs in Accounting, Information Technology, Legal, Medical, Business, and Tourism & Hospitality. We offer a total of 25 career training programs, including seven Specialized Associate degree programs in Accounting, Business, Guest Services, Information Technology, Medical Assistant and Paralegal. In addition, Empire College works with rehabilitation specialists and injured workers to customize programs under California's Workers Compensation training voucher system, as well as laid-off workers entitled to benefits under the Trade Adjustment Act.
How long are the programs, and when can I start school?
Program lengths are from 8 to 21 months, with new classes beginning every 6 weeks.
Are there classes in the summer?
Yes. Classes are year-round with occasional days off for spring, summer, and winter vacation. Student holidays are consistent with public school holidays whenever possible – a factor those with school-age children appreciate.
Are there evening classes?
Yes. Most programs are offered in the evening. In addition, for those wanting a class on a particular software package, individual computer classes in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint) and more are offered at night.
What days/hours do students attend school?
Monday through Thursday, generally from 8 a.m. to 2:10 p.m. or 9 a.m. to 3:10 p.m. Evening classes are held Monday through Thursday from 5 to 10 p.m.
What do students receive when they graduate or complete their program?
A degree, diploma or certificate of completion, depending on their program.
Do I need a laptop/can I bring a laptop to class?
You can, and it is required in some of the School of Business programs' courses. You can visit our bookstore to purchase a laptop.
What is a typical course load?
Full-time students attend the School of Business five or six hours per day, four days per week. Day classes may start as early as 8 a.m. and may end as late as 3 p.m. Evening classes are scheduled from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday.
What happens if I miss a class?
Since students at Empire are training for their employment future, it is expected that you be in regular attendance. If absent, you are encouraged to call one of the Student Success Advisors who will assist you in communicating with instructors to determine coursework missed.
Do other colleges accept Empire College coursework?
Empire College recognizes the importance of continuing education and has established articulation agreements with the University of Phoenix and Kaplan University. These alliances provide Empire graduates an opportunity to petition for credit that will apply toward elective and general education areas within these institutions' undergraduate degree programs.

Where can I buy my textbooks and other supplies?
For the convenience of students and faculty, the College operates a bookstore that stocks texts and supplies needed for study at the College.
Does the Empire College bookstore carry everything I need for my courses?
The bookstore stocks required texts and supplies, as well as supplemental instructional aides and collegiate apparel.
What are the parking rules and regulations?
Parking space at the College is ample. While a small portion of parking spaces are reserved for visitors, disabled individuals and employees, the remainder are available to students on an unassigned basis. There are no additional fees for parking.

Our Admissions Office offers vocational guidance to help you set career goals and to select the most suitable educational programs.
Does Empire College help you with job placement?
Our Career Services department works with all graduates to prepare them for the competitive workplace. Our placement services are based on employer relationships built over 50 years, and graduates may use this placement assistance as often as needed!
How does Empire College help me find a job after graduation?
Empire College maintains a vital interest in the job placement of graduates – it is how we measure our success! Resume and portfolio preparation and interview techniques are directly addressed in all basic class work, as well as by the Career Services Department after graduation. Job notices are posted and resumes of qualified graduates are forwarded to employers.
I'm interested in getting financial aid, but I'm not sure if I qualify?

What expenses does financial aid cover?
Depending on the type of aid you qualify for, financial aid may cover tuition, books and supplies, and in some cases living expenses.
How should I apply to Empire College, and what are the admission requirments?
To apply for admission, you must submit the following:
- A completed application for enrollment
- An official copy of the high school transcript verifying high school graduation, OR an official report of the General Education Development (GED) Exam scores verifying successful completion of the GED, OR a high School Proficiency Certificate.
- College transcripts of all work completed if the student wishes to apply for transfer credit.
What happens after I send my application to Empire College?
Several factors are considered in determining a student’s acceptability for enrollment in the Business School at Empire College, such as prior education, personal motivation, goals and attitude toward education, and the student’s ability to benefit from the field of training undertaken. All applicants, except two-year and four-year college graduates, are required to take the Wonderlic Scholastic Level Exam (SLE). Results of this examination will be used to evaluate the applicant’s ability to successfully complete Empire’s instructional programs.
Does Empire College accept transfer students?

Is Empire College accredited?
Yes. The School of Business is nationally accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS). In addition, the college is a member of the Microsoft Developers Network Academic Alliance.
